Building Stronger Communities from the Ground Up
Building Stronger Communities in Trilokpuri & Mewat
Trilokpuri: Education & Women’s Empowerment
In response to the challenges faced by low-income families, particularly migrants and widows, FFEC initiated food distribution efforts during the COVID-19 lockdowns. To support children’s education, we launched Kadam – The Children’s Learning Center in partnership with ABC, providing a nurturing space for 40-50 children. The center offers a mini-library, reading sessions, creative activities, leadership programs, and board exam coaching. College interns actively engage with students, and regular parent meetings foster community involvement.
FFEC has also taken steps to create inclusive spaces for the transgender community through surveys and visual storytelling, amplifying their voices.
For women’s empowerment, Ibtida was established in collaboration with the Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. Through skill development in sewing, leadership training, and entrepreneurship support, women like Shahnaz have transitioned from domestic work to business ownership. The program also fosters awareness of women’s rights, health, and financial independence, with future plans to expand digital training, informal education, and self-help group formation.
Mewat: Livelihood, Water Sustainability & Education
FFEC is working to bridge gaps in education, skill development, and employment in Mewat. Plans are underway to establish an informal learning center for school dropouts and provide digital literacy training, spoken Hindi and English courses, and practical skill-building programs for youth.
To strengthen women’s financial independence, we are developing initiatives to promote traditional crafts, financial management training, and social entrepreneurship opportunities.
Water scarcity remains a pressing issue in Mewat. In collaboration with Aakar Trust, FFEC has identified key sites for rainwater harvesting and check dam construction, pending community approval and funding.
Agriculture remains the backbone of Mewat’s economy, and FFEC is working to connect local farmers to larger markets in Delhi and Gurgaon. By training them in soil health, nutrition, and sustainable farming techniques, we aim to create long-term solutions for economic stability. Women’s health and nutrition awareness programs further support community well-being.
